Opel Insignia OPC to debut in Frankfurt

We already saw the facelifted Insignia, but the sportier variant had not yet been revealed. I am talking about the OPC. Besides the exterior modifications, the Insignia OPC also gains an improved chassis with special focus on the rear axle, a new ESP, modified damper software for better handling and comfort (FlexRide chassis), and the noise and vibration behavior is improved.

The engine in the Insignia OPC generates 325PS (239kW or 321bhp) and 435Nm (321lb/ft) of torque. Together with the smart all-wheel drive system, this more than enough to accelerate it from 0 to 100km/h (62mph) in 6.0 seconds (the Sports Tourer needs 6.3 seconds), and it stops accelerating when it reaches an electronically limited speed of 250km/h (155mph). When this limit is removed, the Insignia can reach 270km/h (168mph) and the Insignia Sports Tourer, 265km/h (165mph).

The interior also suffered a few changes. According to Opel, there's a completely new main instrument panel and center console, Recaro sport seats, an optional 8-inch touch screen, and optional leather seats. Also optional is the automatic transmission.

See it live at the Frankfurt Motor Show, next month.
