Lamborghini unveils the Gallardo LP 570-4 Squadra Corse

When we were all waiting to see a replacement for the Gallardo, which is supposed to be called Cabrera, Lamborghini decides to reveal a new, and possibly last version of the Gallardo called LP 570-4 Squadra Corse. This new car is based on the Gallardo Super Trofeo race car, while the name "Squadra Corse" refers to the division within Lamborghini’s R&D department dedicated to motorsports.

Since it is based on the Gallardo Super Trofeo race car, it uses a few parts of that car. It has a rather large rear wing and a removable hood with a quick-release system made from carbon fiber. This helps the Gallardo LP 570-4 Squadra Corse reduce the weight to 1340kg (2954lbs), which is 70kg (154lbs) than the LP 560-4.

The exterior is available with four colors. The car in the pictures is painted in Grigio Thalasso (gray), but you can also choose to have it painted in Giallo Midas (yellow), Bianco Monocerus (white) and Rosso Mars (red). The finishing detail is the 3 stripes with the Italian colors.

The interior is wrapped in Alcantara with a few carbon fiber pieces, like the center console, the lower part of the steering wheel, the trim piece around the instrument panels, and the door handles.

This special Gallardo uses the same engine found in the Super Trofeo race car, a V10 that generates 570PS (419kW or 562bhp), and that is mated to an automated e-gear six-speed transmission. It takes just 3.4 seconds to reach 100km (62mph), 10.2 seconds to reach 200km/h (124mph), and will stop accelerating when it reacehs 320km/h (199mph).

Like most models introduced these days you can see it at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
