Seat presents the Leon Cup Racer

The Spanish company, owned by Volkswagen, will bring to the town of Reifnitz on the south bank of the Wörthersee, the new Leon Cup Racer. This new racing car is prepared for several different racing series worldwide, and i am guessing that this is what the new WTCC car will look like when Seat returns to the World Touring Car Championship.

Not only that, this could also be a preview for the upcoming Leon Cupra R. We do know is that Seat fitted the Leon Cup Racer, which is based on the five-door Leon, with a turbocharged, four-cylinder, 2.0 liter engine that produces 330PS (243kW or 326hp) and 350Nm (258lb/ft) of torque. The WTCC requires a 1.6 liter engine.

You can choose between a 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox (DSG) actuated from the steering wheel with an electronically controlled differential lock for a price of €70.000 ($90.000) or a sequential racing transmission with a shift lever on the centre console and a mechanical differential lock that will cost you €95.000 ($122.000).

To reduce weight, Seat fitted the interior with a roll cage, bucket seats, a TFT display and a multi-function steering wheel. The exterior was changed in order to increase downforce and includes large spoilers and 18 inch wheels.
