Caterham teases a new and cheaper Seven

The Seven is a lightweight, simple, two-seater sports roadster initially produced by Lotus. The rights to build this car were bought by Caterham in 1972, and in 1973 the first Caterham Seven was produced. To celebrate 40 years since the first model rolled out of the production line, the British company will reveal a new, less expensive Seven.

The car will look like the current model but it will use a more modern engine that complies with the Euro 6 standard. There are some rumors that point to the use of the Ford Ecoboost L3 1.0 liter engine.

Sales will begin in the fall and the first deliveries will take place before the end of the year. The price should be around €20,000 (£17,000 or $26,000).
