Peugeot teases the 208 Pikes Peak. Will bring two 208 GTi to Nürburgring

Peugeot has officially revealed that they are going to bring a highly modified 208 T16 to race at the 2013 Pikes Peak Hill Climb. The French company announced on the same day they will also participate in 24 hours of Nürburgring with two cars - 208 GTi Peugeot Sport - and eight drivers, four for each car.

The race known as "Race to the Clouds" will once again see a Peugeot competing, after 24 years from the last victory, obtained by the pilot Robby Unser in 1989. In 1988, the winner was Ari Vatanen in a 405 T16, a win you can see in this this well known documentary called Climb Dance.

Citroen allowed Sebastien Loeb to race for Peugeot in their return to Pikes Peak, which is now all paved, and if Peugeot wants to win they should have a car with around 1000PS (986hp or 736kW) and 1000Nm (738lb/ft) of torque. We will find out when the French company introduces it in the middle of April. Total, Red Bull and Michelin will also help.

The French car manufacturer will bring two 208 GTi Peugeot Sport cars to the 24 hours of Nürburgring. The chosen drivers were the 8 winners of the 208 GTi Racing Experience, pretty cool, right?. The car uses a highly modified turbocharged 1.6 liter engine with a power output ranging from 200 (149kW or 203PS) to 300hp (224kW or 304PS), connected to a six-speed gearbox operated with paddle shifters, and it weighs only 990kg (2183lb).
