Here's the crazy Twizy Renault Sport F1!

We suspected that Renault Sport would come up with something related to the Twizy, since, a few days ago, the French company released a teaser together with the information that this presentation was going to take place at the Twizy manufacturing plant in Valladolid, Spain. And they delivered, showing us a crazy looking single seater car.

Renault wanted to bring the F1 world to electric cars, and they ended up fitting a Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS), used by Renault-powered Formula 1 race cars, in the small Twizy, improving its power output bu six times.

The Formula 1 look is achieved with a front splitter, side-pods, a rear wing, a diffuser, slick tyres from the Formula Renault 2.0 and a steering wheel inspired by the one used by Fi cars and can't be used to control the KERS.

This special Twizy uses the same electric motor found on the normal version, but with an extra 80PS (79hp or 59kW) given by the KERS (ionly lasts 14 seconds), the total output is raised to 97PS (96hp or 71kW). Top speed was increased to 110km/h (68mph) and it takes the same time to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h (62mph) than a Mégane RS.
